To our valued EMA members,
We have made the difficult decision to cancel the upcoming annual conference on October 12−16, 2020, hosted by the Milwaukee County Zoo. We share your concerns over the spread of COVID-19, so we canceled the conference out of an abundance of caution. There is still so much uncertainty associated with how this pandemic will affect elephant care facilities, from travel budgets to the health of elephant professionals worldwide.
We know that our members, colleagues, and friends look forward to the networking and learning opportunities EMA's conference offers each year. Already we have been planning this conference for many months, and we are deeply disappointed that we cannot welcome our members to Milwaukee this year. The health of our members, attendees, and speakers is paramount.
Although this situation is unfortunate, we are happy to announce that Milwaukee County Zoo has agreed to host the EMA conference in 2021. We are grateful for their hospitality and their willingness to foster growth and development in all those who work closely with elephants. We look forward to next fall's annual gathering, and more news will be shared in the upcoming months.
Those who have already registered or who have any questions, please contact Erin Dowgwillo at Erin.Dowgwillo@milwaukeecountywi.gov.
Best wishes to your and your elephants,
Your EMA Board of Directors
